In my endless search for the perfect winter beater/ice racer/rally vehicle, I have two potential candidates after losing out on a nice 2.5TS

Both are about 1000 dollars, both have almost 200k on the odometers and both are outback sports. The bugeye has damage and in general just appears to be in worse condition but it has an EJ25 which is more powerful than the (most likely) EJ22 in the GF8. I have yet to drive either but I shall be doing so in the near future. I need some advice on which car you think looks best and what you would do. I'm leaning towards bug eye because newer and maybe better looking, but then again GF8 is a classic and probably lighter/more reliable.

Pics in a bit phone upload isn't working.

I'd probably go for the more reliable one, just because budget.

tough one, but I'd probably go bugeye. The the GF outback sport SHOULD be an ej22, as stated. but I think the bugeye is a better looking wagon, interior is lightyears ahead in terms of looking newer. Bet they both get the same gas mileage and reliability.

but pics and links woudl help

GF8, The late EJ22 doesn't have as much power as the EJ25 in the Bugeye, but it is more reliable, and has fewer issues. I am very partial to the GF because for me, the quintessential Subaru is the GC8 555 rally car going sideways in the dirt, but I also love having a wagon, so therefore, GF8.
